Leadership

I've held numerous leadership opportunities throughout my undergraduate education, which have tested my ability to work as a part of a team, collaborate with many different personality types and facilitate project outcomes that all team members can be proud of. Below are a few highlights of my leadership positions, including the 2022 Bateman Team captain, the Reveille production editor and digital managing editor, and PRSSA president.

2022 Bateman Team: LSU's Crew for a Cure

The Public Relations Student Society of America hosts the Bateman Case Study Competition annually, which challenges teams of public relations students to create a full communications campaign. Each year, more than 75 university teams research, plan, implement and evaluate a public relations campaign for a client who sponsored that year's competition.

The 2022 Bateman Case Study Competition Client was the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Our campaign, for which we received an honorable mention, showcases my ability to combine strategic planning, technical communication and graphic design into one cohesive campaign.

As the team captain, I worked with five other PR students and their individual strengths to research, plan, implement and evaluate a full campaign for LRF, which resulted in over $2,000 in donations. Specifically, I guided the strategic direction of our campaign, coordinated team members' efforts and served as the day-of event manager for our Pirate Party.

Final report

This 58-page PDF was submitted to the competition judges. I organized and edited the content, assisted in the booklet design and coordinated team efforts through every step of the RPIE process.

Strategic communication plan

Our team prepared this plan to document our planning process and rationale for campaign tactics. I selected content, edited it and communicated with our advisers for feedback.

LSU Reveille

In addition to doing graphic design work for LSU's Reveille newspaper, I also served in two leadership positions throughout my four years.

After two years as a copy editor, I was promoted to production editor, where I led a team of eight copy editors to design two print editions weekly. My responsibilities included collaborating with section editors to select content for print, communicating production staff needs to upper management and coordinating with Baton Rouge Press to print each edition.

I served as production editor for a year before being promoted to digital managing editor. As digital managing editor, I serve as the editor-in-chief's second in command and help oversee the day-to-day operations of nine mid-level managers and a total of 70 employees. Though I help manage the entire paper, the main focus of my position is bolstering the Reveille's digital presence by ensuring content is properly optimized, includes effective photos and graphics, and is being posted at the correct times on the correct channels. As part of this role, I planned an open house to share our recently renovated newsroom with faculty, staff, alumni and donors. I will also serve as the campaign manager for our annual fundraising campaign in April.

PRSSA President

I stepped into the role of PRSSA President for LSU's chapter during the 2022-2023 academic year. In my role as president, I helped an executive board of five leaders through a rebuilding phase as our chapter rebounded from decreased involvement during the COVID-19 pandemic. In our first semester, we increased meeting attendance from an average of 10 attendees per meeting in spring 2022 to an average of 16 attendees per meeting in fall 2022.

I guided the executive board's semester planning, which included selecting topics and speakers for each meeting. I was also responsible for reserving our meeting space and preparing the meeting slide decks. In collaboration with the digital media director, I guided social media content, and I worked closely with our treasurer to ensure the financial stability of our chapter.

Due to my involvement with PRSSA, I attended the 75th PRSA / PRSSA ICON conference in Grapevine, Texas, Nov. 11-15, 2022. At this conference, I networked with professionals, heard from industry thought leaders and socialized with other student leaders from around the world. Check out my Twitter thread recapping my conference experience.
