Bill Nye's impact on science communication

As part of my affiliation with the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College, I researched and wrote a thesis paper on Bill Nye's impact on the science communication field. Through the content analysis of his "Bill Nye the Science Guy" TV show, I created a list of best practice visual and verbal communication techniques that can be used by communicators in any field.

Food bank demand increases

Writing this article for 225 Magazine required me to sift through a large amount of data and connect them to real-world impacts. I pitched this story to the 225 team, interviewed sources, wrote copy and collaborated with the editors to get the article ready to publish.

Investor FAQs

Writing an investor FAQ required an understanding of financial information and the ability to communicate its highly technical nature in a way useful for the average reader. This assignment highlights my ability to learn and adapt quickly to communicate subject matter new to me.

Executive speech

This speech is meant to communicate highly technical information written into federal law and what impact it will have on the company's actions, which also included technical information. As an exercise in brevity, it communicates all of this information successfully in under 400 words.

Renewable energy webpage

This assignment was a final project for an honors course called "Community perspectives on environmental issues." In groups of three, we created webpages exploring environmental topics. I researched renewable energy, wrote copy, designed graphics and populated a webpage with the deliverables I created.
